Young Helmer is the youngest son of Lord Hewson and Lady Lynn Hewson, named for Hewson's friend Helmer. He is a young student living at Harbone Citadel with his parents, and prior to his father's death, he met the rabbit for whom he was named.
As they converse as old friends, Hewson mentions to Helmer how he had named one of his sons after him.
Later, Young Helmer meets his namesake, shortly before Hewson's death and the subsequent Battle for First Warren.
- The name "Helmer" is of German origin, and means "wrath of the warrior."
