— Heather Longtreader, The Green Ember
Heather Longtreader created a game called Starseek when she was young, and taught her younger brother how to play also, making it become a game that they played often. One day, her father told her and her brother, Picket Longtreader, the story of King Jupiter, and the next day a mysterious lady showed up at their house. Heather and Picket were sent to pick berries, and while they were gone, their home was attacked and burned to the ground. Heather sent Picket to run to one of the Seven Mounds; she confronted Redeye Garlackson, and led a long chase until she got stuck in the entrance of the Fifth Mound. Wilfred Longtreader managed to kick her inside, knocking her out. She then later woke up after taking a freezing bath in the underground river. She and Picket escape the Mounds by breaking a wall and riding out on the river with an unconscious Smalls, and Uncle Wilfred jumping in shortly after.
Heather enters the Story Guild to tell the story of Jupiter Smalls. The story written down and was passed to all of Cloud Mountain, all of the secret citadels and beyond.
Note: Because Potter's War has yet to be publicly released, Heather's role in the story shall not be disclosed on this wiki. Should S. D. Smith ever choose to publish Potter's War, a complete summary shall be added. Thank you.

— Heather Longtreader, Ember Falls
After the battle is over, Heather and Emma work to get as many soldiers healed as possible. All of the captians and soldiers gather outside the tent to pledge their allegiance to Emma.
That night Heather goes to the plateaux and finds Emma at the top of the seventh standing stone. Emma was planning to give herself to the birds of prey to buy time for Cloud Mountain to survive. Heather pushes Emma off the stone, takes the emerald Emma was wearing, and the bird takes Heather to The High Bleaks. Heather brought only her clothes on her back and her satchel. Inside the satchel was an emerald gem, Joan's Purse (which contained a bottle), and her torch charm.
Garten Longtreader confirms for Morbin that Heather was not Emma, but his own niece. Heather tells them she took Emma's place without Emma's positon. Garten convinces the birds to not kill Heather. Heather hears a signing rabbit and recognizes the song and the voice singing it.
Heather Longtreader is a beautiful white rabbit with a tear in the top of her right ear, which was caused by one of Redeye Garlackson's wolf's arrows.
