Does anyone think there will be a Green ember movie? I think it would be awesome if there was.

S. D. Smith has stated he’s looking into some sort of screen adaption of the Green Ember books. Fingers crossed it’ll happen!
I would say no. A movie takes tons of cash to make unless you make it really cheap on YouTube or something. If Smith can somehow manages to find a producer for his film, it probably would look like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1iaIAii9gdE&list=PLT7phLK4P1igNR9-06wDLEQodM3Pi7qus&index=2
And yes, this film is super-short, the graphics are worse than video games, and it moves in a very jerky manner. Not horrible (I could never pull it off!) but not Hollywood quality.
Believe it or not, the Green Ember series, while very popular, is not in even the same league of popularity as secular books like Harry Potter. So a movie would not make as much money as really needed.
There's also the issue that Christian filmmakers are scarce. EXTREMELY scarce. The only ones that really exist make "true story" type films, not films about rabbits.
I really think a video game is the best possibility, especially with all the 90's-style indie (independent developers like me) games. While a game is by no means easy to make (Even my text game should take a few years) there are some great game making engines like Unreal 4 that can make some epic stuff like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKu1Y-LlfNQ
Okay, That looks real. So imagine what a Green Ember film or game done in that engine could look like. I'm assembling a team for my game, and if I can get enough people we may be able to pull off something like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKu1Y-LlfNQ
Sounds fun, huh?
This is certainly a point of disagreement among menders from what I've seen. I personally would love a faithful adaptation (2D maybe?) but I know people who would rather there be no movie than take the (admittedly rather large) chance of the movie being poorly made or straying from the book's plot and story.
My hope would be that if Sam were involved, as it seems he would be, the movie version would be faithful (even if not identical).
Time may tell, I guess.
I am dying that there aren't any!!!!!
I think there could be, but it might be a while. The series has only been around a few years, after all.
Well, in his latest Q&A, S.D. Smith has stated a preference for a series over a movie, and that there would be some changes while endeavoring to retain the heart of the story. He said he doesn’t want to see the book recreated exactly, in part because he has grown as a storyteller since writing it.
What do you think?
